	Pico island, one of the nine island of the Azores, center of whales tradition, is located at 28º 20´ West longitude and at 38º 30´ North latitude. It is developed around a volcano with 2351 high meters and 447 km2. The climate is mild, with moderate humidity and the mean temperature vary between 14ºC (57 F) in winter and 22ºC (72 F) in summer.
